Greenlots, CapitaLand, and BMW to expand EV charging network in Singapore

ABR Staff Writer Published 01 September 2015

Greenlots, an open standards-based technology firm for electric vehicle (EV) networks, has teamed up with real estate developers CapitaLand and BMW Group Asia to install additional EV and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) charging stations in the Central Business District (CBD) of Singapore.

The development comes close on the heels of the launch of all-electric BMW i3 and BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car launched in Singapore.

The first phase of deployment will include installation of public charging stations at five strategic locations in the CBD - Capital Tower, CapitaGreen, One George Street, Raffles City Singapore and Six Battery Road.

Greenlots senior vice-president Lin Khoo said: "This installment marks a significant milestone for electric mobility in Singapore, as we lay a sustainable foundation for the sector to thrive.

"We are dedicated to accelerating EV adoption in the city-state and a robust charging network needs support from car companies and the real estate sector. We are pleased to be partnering with industry leaders as we bolster open-standards based public EV charging for Singapore."

The second phase is covering at four of CapitaLand's shopping malls - Bedok Mall, The Atrium@Orchard, The Star Vista and Westgate.

Once completed, the two phases will put the total number of public charging stations in Singapore up to 45 across 31 public locations.
